Products Description

Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression System for Commercial Kitchens

MODEL MCH3 Fusible Link Kitchen Automatic Fire Suppression Systems

Kitchen hood Automatic Fire Systems

The PRI-SAFETY Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression System is a fixed wet chemical system developed for commercial cooking areas.

It combines fusible-link heat detection, mechanical actuation, fixed discharge nozzles and a manual release device. When abnormal heat activates the detection line, the system releases wet chemical agent through the installed piping and nozzles toward selected cooking appliances, hood areas and related fire hazards.

Available agent capacities include 6 L, 12 L, 18 L and 24 L. The final configuration is selected according to the kitchen hood dimensions, appliance arrangement, required discharge points, pipe route and installation conditions.

Why Commercial Kitchen Hoods Need Fixed Fire Protection?

Commercial kitchens contain several fire hazards in a relatively small area. These may include:

  • High-temperature cooking oil
  • Grease deposits
  • Open flames
  • Gas-fired appliances
  • Electrical cooking equipment
  • Hot cooking surfaces
  • Exhaust hoods and ducts

A fire may begin around a fryer, range, griddle or other cooking appliance. Without early control, heat and flames may spread toward the hood or exhaust area.

Portable fire extinguishers remain important, but they require a person to identify the fire, approach the hazard and operate the extinguisher correctly.

A fixed kitchen system provides automatic heat detection and pre-arranged agent discharge at selected risk points. It can operate even when no one is close enough to use a portable extinguisher immediately.

Automatic Wet Chemical Protection for Cooking Areas

The system is intended for cooking oil and grease fire hazards commonly described as Class K or Class F hazards.

Wet chemical agent is discharged through fixed nozzles toward the protected appliances and related areas. The system can also include manual activation and an optional fuel shut-off device according to the project design.

Unlike a general room fire protection system, a kitchen hood system must be arranged around the actual cooking line. The cylinder capacity, detector positions, nozzle quantity and discharge piping should match the appliances and hood layout.

For this reason, final system selection should not be based only on kitchen floor area.

*Technical Note

The final nozzle quantity, detector position, pipe length and system configuration must be checked against the actual hood and cooking appliance layout.

The protection-distance information should not be published until its exact technical definition has been confirmed.

Fusible-Link Heat Detection

Fusible links are installed along the mechanical detection line above or near selected cooking hazards.

When a link reaches its rated activation temperature, it separates and releases the mechanical control mechanism.

Mechanical Automatic Operation

The main detection and actuation process does not depend on the building's electrical power supply.

This allows the automatic release function to remain available during a power interruption.

Wet Chemical Extinguishing Agent

The agent is intended for high-temperature cooking oil and grease hazards found in commercial cooking environments.

The exact agent specification should be confirmed according to the selected model and destination requirements.

Automatic and Manual Activation

The system can be activated automatically through the fusible-link detection line.

A manual release device provides an additional way to operate the system during an emergency.

Fixed Multi-Point Discharge

Several nozzles can be arranged around selected appliances and hood areas.

The number, position and direction of the nozzles are determined during system design.

Optional Fuel Shut-Off

A fuel cut-off device can be included when required by the appliance arrangement or project specification.

The correct shut-off method must match the actual fuel source and cooking equipment.

Four Agent Capacity Options

The product range includes:

6 L

12 L

18 L

24 L

Different capacities support different nozzle quantities and kitchen configurations.

Project-Based System Design

The system configuration is prepared according to the actual kitchen information rather than using one standard package for every cooking line.

Automatic Activation Sequence

Fusible links are installed at selected positions above or near the protected cooking line.

Heat from a developing fire reaches the rated temperature of a fusible link.

The activated link separates and changes the tension of the mechanical actuation line.

The movement of the actuation line triggers the control and release assembly.

Wet chemical agent flows from the cylinder into the fixed discharge piping.

The installed nozzles direct the agent toward the selected appliances and hazard points.

Where an optional fuel shut-off device is included, the cooking fuel supply is isolated according to the approved system design.

The system must be inspected and reset by qualified personnel after discharge.

Manual Activation

When immediate operation is required, trained personnel can activate the system through the manual release device.

The manual release should be installed in an accessible location away from the main cooking hazard.

Products Configuration

  • Wet Chemical Agent Cylinder

The cylinder stores the extinguishing agent used by the fixed kitchen protection system. The capacity is selected according to the required configuration.

  • Control and Release Assembly

The control assembly receives the mechanical action from the detection line and initiates agent discharge.

  • Fusible-Link Detection Line

The detection arrangement may include: Actuation cable / Fusible links / Pulleys / Pulley elbows / Cable fittings / Mounting components

  • Fixed Discharge Piping

The discharge tubing carries the wet chemical agent from the cylinder assembly to the installed nozzles.

  • Spray Nozzles

The nozzles distribute the agent toward the selected cooking appliances, hood areas and related hazards.

  • Manual Release Device

The manual release device provides emergency operation by trained personnel. Its installation position is determined during system design.

  • Protective Control Box

The release mechanism and related control components can be installed inside a protective enclosure.

  • Mounting Brackets and Clips

Brackets and clips secure the cylinder, piping, detection line and nozzles in their approved positions.

  • Optional Fuel Cut-Off Valve

The optional shut-off device is selected according to the cooking fuel, appliance controls and project requirements.
